Julen Lopetegui can bring a top-class Premier League player to West Ham United for a real bargain fee this summer it seems.

West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui has a lot of work to do this summer, and it was evident from yesterday’s friendly clash with Ferencvaros just how many new signings he needs to make.

Read Hammers News’ West Ham player ratings from the Ferencvaros friendly.

Lopetegui’s need for a new striker has been well-documented, but he is said to be prioritising the addition of a top-class central midfielder as well.

Edson Alvarez has been superb for us but Lopetegui needs to bring in more competition and cover for the Mexican.

Numerous names have been banded about, and now one of those names should be easily attainable for us this summer.

West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui can sign ‘unstoppable force’ for £30m

So it seems as though the Hammers chief has the chance to significantly strengthen his ranks at the London Stadium for a real bargain fee.

That’s because Manchester United are demanding just €35 million (£30 million) for Scott McTominay this summer – a player who the Hammers are very interested in signing.

Described by the Independent as ‘Scotland’s unstoppable force’, McTominay has performed admirably for not only his club, but his country as well throughout the years.

With his unbelievable energy levels, athleticism and stamina, he’d be the ideal accompaniment to Edson Alvarez, with the Mexican sitting just in front of the back four.

The Man United star could perform the box-to-box role for the Hammers, and Lucas Paqueta could then play as our number 10, if he’s still playing for us of course.

I think he’d take us to a whole new level, with his tenacious tackling and athleticism.

Signing Scott McTominay for just £30 million seems like an absolute no-brainer for West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui this summer.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Spaniard prioritises a move to sign the midfielder over a centre-forward, with funds fairly tight at the London Stadium.
