‘I’ll be ready’ – Aurélien Tchouaméni prepared for Euros after stress fracture recovery – Get French Football News

Aurélien Tchouaméni (24) made the trip to Wembley with Real Madrid but would not feature for the side as they lifted their 15th Champions League trophy. The French midfielder’s place in the starting lineup was always in doubt after he suffered a stress fracture to his metatarsal during the semi-final against Bayern Munich.

The recovery time for this injury meant that it would be touch and go whether he would be fit enough for the final, and while it was encouraging that he was included on the bench, there ultimately was no need to risk his fitness as Madrid recorded a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund.

If the Champions League final came a bit too soon for Tchouaméni, the same cannot be said for the Euros where it is expected that the midfielder will be a central component of Didier Deschamps’ France team. Last night, Tchouaméni confirmed as much when speaking to Canal+ after the game, “It’s ok. I’ll be ready.”

A short but reassuring statement for a team that will hope to rely heavily on the midfielder later this month.
