A France star is on the verge of quitting the national side over his treatment in Euro 2024, it has been claimed.

Having come under widespread criticism for their performances in Germany, France were ultimately knocked out in the European Championship semi-finals to eventual champions Spain.

Since the relatively dismal Euro showing, L’Equipe have reported that France star Kingsley Coman is considering his future at international level due to the limited game time Didier Deschamps provided him.

With Bradley Barcola often picked over the Bayern Munich star, Coman played just 15 minutes across the entire tournament, coming on as a late substitution in a goalless draw against the Netherlands.

Coman’s frustrations have allegedly led to the attacker deliberating over whether to call time on his international career.

The 28-year-old has allegedly been left “scarred” by his recent experiences and will retire to focus on club football should his playing time under Deschamps not improve.

Coman struggled for game time last term, featuring just 27 times in all competitions having consistently struggled with injuries since arriving in Bavaria. Indeed, the winger has missed some 107 games through injury since joining from Juventus in 2015.

Last term was also the first time in his career that Coman had missed out on winning a league title as Bayer Leverkusen put an end to Bayern’s 11-year reign as Bundesliga champions.

Deschamps has received much criticism since France’s last-four defeat.

In response to France being accused of being ‘boring’, Deschamps said: “If you’re getting bored, you know what? Watch another game, that’s fine. You don’t have to watch, it’s fine. It’s a European Championship, it’s very difficult for everyone.

“But I’m sorry if the Swedish are getting bored of our football. It doesn’t really bother me that much.”

Meanwhile, Antoine Griezmann has made it clear that he has no intention of retiring from international football, revealing he wants to continue being involved with France for the World Cup in two years.

He said: “It will be up to the coach to decide but I always want to [keep playing].”
