World Cup winner Raphael Varane has reportedly given his green light for a free transfer to Cesc Fabregas’ newly promoted Como.
The 31-year-old French veteran is currently a free agent after his contract expired with Manchester United a fortnight ago and has received widespread interest since, with Roma and clubs from the MLS and Saudi Arabia keen on a move.
Como have already been hard at work in the transfer market, looking to quickly bolster Fabregas’ squad for their first season back in the topflight. Veteran goalkeeper Pepe Reina and defender Alberto Moreno have both agreed to join the club on free transfers, and Anthony Martial is being targeted.
Varane yes to Como
Fabrizio Romano reported that Varane has said yes to joining Como on a free transfer, but no official announcement will arrive for a few days as the club work to finalise all the details of the deal.
The 31-year-old French centre back is not expected to join his new teammates in their pre-season camp in Marbella, Di Marzio added.
